His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Administrator of the Northern Territory and Ms Ruth Jones, undertook official travel to Tennant Creek for a residency in the Barkly Region.

In the morning, His Honour and Ms Jones, attended a Welcome to Country reception and luncheon with the Traditional Owner’s, Patta Aboriginal Corporation, at Barkly Business Hub.

Subsequently, the Administrator, accompanied by Ms Jones, presented the 2023 Wildfires Awards to recognise those who responded to the 2023 Savanna and Central Australian fire, at Barkly Business Hub.

In the afternoon, the Vice Regal couple, attended a tour and briefing of Tennant Creek Police Station.

Next, His Honour, and Ms Jones, as Patron, presented awards at the Girl Guides New South Wales, Australia Capital Territory and Northern Territory gathering, at Tennant Creek Show Grounds.

In the evening, the Administrator and Ms Jones, hosted an informal dinner for the members of Tennant Creek community, at the Woks Up Chinese restaurant.
