In the morning, His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Administrator of the Northern Territory, accompanied by Ms Ruth Jones, officially started the Australia Day OZRun and attended the Smoking Ceremony with Australia Day Council Northern Territory, at the Darwin Waterfront.
Subsequently, His Honour and Ms Jones, attended and waved the starting flag marking the commencement of the 23rd annual Hot100 Australia Day Ute Run, at the Hidden Valley Race way.
Afterwards, the Vice regal couple, attended The Festival of Us, at the Territory Netball Stadium in Marrara, where they participated in activities, art workshops, met with stall holders and volunteers.
During midday, the Administrator, accompanied by Ms Jones, attended the City of Palmerston Australia Day Celebrations and Citizenship Ceremony, at the Palmerston Recreational Centre. His Honour presented conferees with certificates and presented the Local Government Awards for Palmerston Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year.
In the afternoon, the Vice Regal couple, attended the Top End Mustangs Australia Day Social, where they participated in line dancing and met with the members, in Woolner.
In the evening, His Honour, as Patron of the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory, and Ms Jones, attended the OzFusion 2024, Australia Day celebration of the cultural diversity of the Northern Territory, in Marrara.
