In the morning, Her Honour Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris AM, Acting Administrator of the Northern Territory, accompanied by Mr Rodney Haritos, delivered an address, and officially unveiled a Memorial to Cyclone Tracy, at East Point Reserve, in Darwin. The Acting Administrator was joined by Cyclone Tracy survivors, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia, and the Honourable Lia Finocchiaro MLA, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory.

The sculptural theme of the memorial is five fallen frangipani flowers that have been scattered by the wind of Cyclone Tracy. The Memorial was designed by Techy Masero, sponsored by Remembering Cyclone Tracy Inc. with grants from the Commonwealth and Northern Territory governments.
