The Administrator hosts a special Territory Day Breakfast at Government House

The Administrator and Ms Sue Brosnan OLY welcomed young Territorians and their families to Government House for a special Territory Day breakfast.

On 1 July 1978, the Northern Territory took a historic step, becoming self-governing. Led by our first Chief Minister, Paul Everingham, a young government with a bold vision helped shape the future of our Territory.

In just 2 years, we will celebrate 50 years of self-government—an important milestone and an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come and where we are headed.

The Northern Territory has always been built by people willing to roll up their sleeves, back their communities and work together to create opportunities for others. That spirit continues today and will be carried forward by the next generation.

As we look towards our 50th anniversary, His Honour encouraged the young Territorians in attendance to dream big, work hard, stay curious, volunteer, look after one another and never underestimate the difference they can make.
