Swimming Australia elite swimming squads train in Darwin

His Honour and Ms Sue Brosnan OLY had the privilege of attending a training session with members of the Australian swimming squad including Olympians Mollie O’Callaghan OAM OLY and Lani Pallister OAM OLY at Parap Pool, after meeting several athletes at the Gold Coast Suns game.

For two weeks throughout May, a number of Australia’s elite swimming squads, including St Peters Western Swim Club will train in Darwin at both Parap and Casuarina Pools as they prepare for the Australian Swimming Trials in June, ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 2 August.

Supported by high-performance camps through Swimming Australia these training sessions continue to position Darwin as an important winter training destination for Australia’s leading athletes.

His Honour and Ms Brosnan also caught up with renowned Australian swim coach Dean Boxall, a regular visitor to Darwin, who greatly values the Territory’s climate, facilities and training environment for his athletes.
