His Honour met with Swimming Australia and Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre in Sydney

His Honour and Ms Sue Brosnan OLY had the pleasure of catching up with Mr Sam Watson, Executive General Manager of Swimming Australia, and Mr Bryce Alley, Director Sporting Venues of the Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, on their home turf, following Swimming Australia’s high-performance team training camp in Darwin last month.

The visit provided an opportunity to meet athletes from the NSW Institute of Sport squads, including several able-bodied and para-athletes who have been selected to represent Australia at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland and the 2026 Pan Pacific Championships in Los Angeles.

The Northern Territory continues to play an important role in Australia's high-performance sporting pathway through its strong partnership with Swimming Australia. Darwin's climate and facilities make it an ideal location for warm-weather training camps, helping athletes prepare for major national and international competitions.

This partnership is also supporting the Territory’s growing reputation as a high-performance sporting destination in the lead-up to the  Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

Poolside, His Honour had the privilege of meeting athletes preparing to compete at the Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Championships, Junior Pan Pacific Championships and Para Pan Pacific Championships.

In recognition of their dedication and achievement, he presented several athletes with Administrator's Challenge Coins as they prepare to represent Australia on the world stage.

The visit also provided a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the world-class Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre.
