Ceremonial farewell

His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, 23rd Administrator of the Northern Territory, concluded his term on 30 January 2026.

Government House staff, youth leaders, the Australian Defence Force, Australian Army Band and the Larrakia people offered their respects in a series of moving tributes. Flags were lowered, honours exchanged and one final lap of State Square brought the chapter to a close. A quiet, heartfelt farewell, spoken mostly in moments, not words.
