Australian Youth Orchestra returns to Darwin after 30 years

The Administrator and Ms Sue Brosnan OLY were delighted to visit the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) during rehearsals in Darwin ahead of their Brave New Worlds concert at the AANT Centre.

Hosted by AANT Centre’s CEO Mr John Glenn, AYO CEO Ms Kimbali Harding and Philanthropy Manager Mr Billy Tanner, the visit provided a rare opportunity to meet the talented young musicians and guest artists bringing this remarkable performance to the Territory.

It was especially exciting to welcome the Australian Youth Orchestra back to Darwin for the first time in more than 30 years, showcasing some of Australia's most outstanding emerging classical musicians at the beginning of what promises to be distinguished international careers.

Under the acclaimed conductor Anthony Hermus, the orchestra presented a thrilling program featuring Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven's Eroica Symphony, with internationally renowned cellist and AYO alumna Charlotte Miles returning as soloist.
