Garma Festival

His Honour and Ms Jones attended the vibrant bungul and official opening ceremony of the Garma Festival - a moment rich in ritual, song and dance. It was a privilege for His Honour to be welcomed into such profound cultural expression and to witness the energy and connection it brings to the community.

The evening concluded with a moving milkarri ceremony at the Gapan Gallery, led by senior women whose voices carried deep knowledge and ancestral sorrow—a lament sung to the universe. For many artists present, it was also the first time seeing their works beautifully framed and honoured in this sacred setting.
