Mr Craig O’Halloran Biography
Mr Craig O’Halloran has a distinguished career as a senior manager within both the Northern Territory Government and Northern Territory peak industry associations. He has a particular focus on building the capacity of local business, Indigenous training and procurement reforms.
Mr O’Halloran moved to the Northern Territory from Tasmania in 1989. He worked for the Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce, prior to serving as Executive Director of the Service Industries Training Advisory Council. He then took on the role of Senior Executive Manager with the Territory Construction Association, the Northern Territory’s peak construction industry body.
In 2008, Mr O’Halloran joined the Northern Territory Government. Over more than 11 years he has held key leadership positions in the Department of Business across procurement, business services, business development and innovation and Indigenous workforce participation. Mr O’Halloran has led teams responsible for Northern Territory Government Stimulus Packages, Business Development Officers, October Business Month, Territory Business Centres, ‘red tape’ reforms and disaster recovery.
Mr O’Halloran has served on a number of boards promoting the interests of Northern Territory business. These include the Australian Technical College, Northern Territory Industry Capability Network (ICN), Northern Territory Government Procurement Council and Business Council, Master Builders Australia General Managers Network and the Procurement Review Board. He has also been a member of several business organisations over many years.
His private passions include his family, golf, gardening and the Australian Football League, in particular St Kilda. Mr O’Halloran was inducted into the Tasmanian Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding results as an individual and team player in Australian Rules Football. He considers playing football in the Northern Territory with so many talented team mates a career highlight.
Mr O’Halloran is proud to serve as Patron of St John Ambulance (NT) and the Asthma Foundation Northern Territory.
Mr O’Halloran holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and a Master of Business Administration majoring in International Business from what is now Charles Darwin University.
The close-knit O’Halloran family, including daughter Coco, will provide proud support to Her Honour during her term as Administrator of the Northern Territory.
